Honouring Heroes: 17 Years On — Warwickshire Arts

Seventeen years have passed since Lance Corporal James Bateman and Private Jeff Doherty of the 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, were killed in action in Afghanistan.

Today, we remember their sacrifice, their service, and the enduring legacy they’ve left behind. Each year, family, friends, and comrades gather not only to reflect but to celebrate their memory through the annual stretcher race, a powerful and symbolic event that honours their spirit, strength, and camaraderie.
